When it rains, it pours. When you’re the Diamondbacks, it’s a thunderstorm that never ceases.
The team with the worst record in the league had a season-defining play on Wednesday night, when Ketel Marte turned what would have been an impressive catch into a LaMonte Wade Jr. homer.
Wade Jr. smashed the ball to dead center, but not hard enough that Marte couldn’t make a play on it near the outfield fence. He may have been better off to just see where it landed. The ball bounced off the glove of the outstretched Marte’s glove and over the fence. A stunned Marte looked into his empty glove, and then over the fence as he realized what happened. He then swung his glove in a rage.
