As if the NBA needed to make it official, Stephen Curry is one of the 75 greatest players of all time.
Curry was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, voted on by a panel of current and former players, media, coaches and team executives.
The three-time NBA Champion and two-time Most Valuable Player was named to list on the third day of 25-player releases.
Curry, the greatest 3-point shooter in the history of the NBA, revolutionized the sport with his limitless range. Drafted seventh overall in the 2009 draft out of Davidson, Curry is the only unanimous MVP in league history. He’s set dozens of records in his 13-year career and is on pace to shatter Ray Allen’s all-time 3-point field goals mark this season.
In Golden State’s home-opener, Curry struggled from the field — he said postgame he played like trash — but still recorded his eighth career triple double.
Curry, 33, led the NBA in scoring last year by averaging a career-high 32 points per game. He was named to his fourth All-NBA First Team and won his second 3-point contest at All-Star Weekend.
Klay Thomspon, the second half of the Splash Bros, did not make the cut. On Instagram, he shared a story saying “Maybe I’m just naive in my ability to play basketball, but in my head I’m top 75 all time.”
Curry is one of eight former Warriors on the all-time team. Kevin Durant, Rick Barry, Wilt Chamberlain, Robert Parish, Nate Thurmond, Paul Arizin and Jerry Lucas join the superstar point guard.
Curry and the Warriors take on the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday night in the Chase Center for the home opener.
