The 49ers received their second piece of good news on Friday morning.
Shortly after Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that second-year tight end George Kittle’s shoulder injury is “not serious,” Tom Pelissero has reported that Matt Breida has no structural damage in his shoulder after leaving Thursday’s game in the first quarter. Breida is expected to be ready by Week 1 of the regular season, and is projected as the team’s second-string running back behind Jerick McKinnon

Breida and Kittle were just two of four key players that were knocked out of the first quarter of the 49ers’ first preseason game vs. the Cowboys on Thursday. Projected defensive starters Malcolm Smith (hamstring) and Solomon Thomas (concussion) were also forced out early. An update has yet to be provided on either player, but Smith has been dealing with hamstring issues throughout training camp.
