For the first time ever, brothers Steph and Seth Curry will compete against each other in the 3-point shootout during All-Star Saturday night. Hours before the competition, Steph revealed that there is more than just familial bragging rights at stake: Whoever has a worse showing has to buy all the family tickets for every matchup between the two players for the rest of their careers.
“That’s high stakes right there,” Curry said in a video before confirming the wager with Seth.
With both brothers playing for teams in the same division and Steph about to turn just 31, the two are likely to face each other a bunch of times before one of their careers’ ends.
Steph, who won the competition in 2015, made it clear that his entire family is rooting for Seth, who is competing for the first time. While Steph is widely considered to be the greatest 3-point shooter in NBA history and is second in the league in 3s made this season (236), Seth is actually posting a better percentage in 2018-19, with his 46.5 percent clip (3rd in NBA) edging Steph’s 44.4 percent (6th in NBA). It should be noted that the elder Curry is attempting around nine more 3s per game than his younger brother.
“So I hope to pull the upset,” Stephen jokingly told ESPN.
