Friday morning the Giants once again trimmed their roster in preparation for the start of the 2019 season on March 28th. With two weeks remaining, the Giants roster is beginning to take shape as players are optioned and re-assigned to minor league camps.
The latest series of moves included Austin Slater and Pat Venditte being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to begin the season, as well as Derek Law and infielder Zach Green being re-assigned to minor league camp.

Slater was in the thick of the competition for the one of the outfield spots, while Venditte was competing for a bullpen role as an ambidextrous relief pitcher. Both players will likely see time at the big league level this year but will begin the year in Triple-A.
Law and Green both have had strong springs thus far, but were long shots to make the roster anyways. Green has been on base almost as much as anybody this spring. A patient hitter who leads the team in walks is also second on the team in RBI’s with five. Both Green and Law could see some time at the big league level this season.
The Giants roster has been trimmed down to 29, and the remaining four moves will likely come towards the end of the spring as Bruce Bochy will want to get an extended look at the remaining players battling for roster spots.
