Raheem Mostertâs return shouldâve been a cause for celebration, but in this bizarre 2020 season, even the good days are bittersweet.
Thatâs especially true for Mostert, who is playing the 2020 season away from his wife and two young children, who stayed behind in the Cleveland area as a safety precaution due to COVID. If that wasnât tough enough, Mostert has been relegated to just five games this season due to injuries.
After Sundayâs 23-20 win over the Rams, in which he returned to the field after missing over a month, Mostert was overcome with emotion when reflecting on the season.
âItâs been a struggle, not having my little family. Sorry if I get a little emotional,â Mostert said over Zoom when addressing the media.
âItâs really tough, I miss them so much. Itâs a fight out here everyday. Youâre fighting for your life. I just want people to understand that. Itâs just not football players, itâs the whole organization. Itâs everybody. People have to make sacrifices out here. I sacrificed to leave my family behind so that way I can make a living for them.â
Making matters even more difficult, the 49ers have now been banned by Santa Clara County from playing or practicing at their traditional home, meaning they will have to spend the remainder of the season playing and practicing elsewhere.
