Draymond Green broke his silence about his suspension from Game 3 of the first-round series between the Kings and Warriors. In his podcast released on Friday, Green bristled at the idea that prior actions contributed to the league’s decision to suspend him and the notion that he was at fault for interacting the the Kings crowd in Sacramento.
“I never knew you could be suspended for a Flagrant 2 that happened seven years ago,” Green said. “And I also didn’t know you’d get suspended for interacting with a crowd that’s flipping you double birds and yelling your name and chants that you suck.”
Green had to watch the game from home as suspended players are not allowed in the arena, and said he couldn’t help feel bad watching his team have to play without him.
“My fellas was in a dog fight — or is in a dog fight. And just not being able to participate in that dog fight, that’s crushing,” Green stated. “Because you just feel like you’re leaving them out there by themselves. … So to not participate in that dog fight, that’s what bothers me the most.”
Still, the Warriors won in convincing fashion, and did so in large part thanks to an incredible Stephen Curry performance. Curry dropped 36 points in 37 minutes, and Green thanked his longtime teammate for picking up the slack.
“You held me down again, brotha,” Green said. “Held me down again, and I can’t thank him enough. Absolutely amazing. A master at work. Not often times in life do you get to see a master at work, so appreciate that. I know I did.”
