Steph Curry is still in pain.
But at some point in the near future, it sounds like Curry will try to play through that pain.
The Warriors’ star missed Monday evening’s matchup with the Sacramento Kings due to a hand injury he suffered on Saturday night, and Golden State is officially listing Curry as “questionable” for their Wednesday showdown in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
Curry said after practice Tuesday that if he does return to the floor on Wednesday night, he’ll wear some sort of protective guard or brace on his hand to limit the pain.
“The whole point is just trying to take some of the pain away because there’s just so much motion and I guess effect whether you’re catching the ball or dribbling, I’m just trying to limit that motion as much as I can,” Curry said.
The Warriors’ sharpshooter said that because the injury impacts his ring finger, he shouldn’t have a tough time shooting the ball when he comes back. Curry looked strong in a post-practice shooting session, and mentioned that if his middle finger and index finger are healthy, he doesn’t foresee an issue.
“Hopefully as long as I’ve got these two fingers I can shoot,” Curry said.
Both Curry and Durant were sidelined on Monday, and their presences were clearly missed as Golden State fell 110-106 to a Sacramento team that earned just its sixth win of the season. Durant, like Curry, is also questionable for Wednesday night, but was also a full participant in Tuesday’s practice.
Curry couldn’t pinpoint exactly when he suffered his injury on Saturday night, but he did say it came on a steal attempt, and that the swelling in his hand didn’t appear until after the final whistle.
“I don’t know specifically, I know I tried to go for a steal at some point and it felt like I jammed it like I normally do playing basketball and it just blew up overnight,” Curry said. “Crazy swelling so I was trying to be cautious knowing kind of where we are in the season and not let this linger for too long. Hopefully the healing process will continue as I go through the road trip.”
