It wasn’t just the Giants’ clubhouse that was pulling for the rookie on the mound.
So, too, was Minnesota’s, which houses Tyler Rogers’ twin brother, Taylor. Tyler — the Giant — debuted Tuesday after seven seasons in the minors, a 28-year-old who was running out of time and had seen time at Triple-A Sacramento every year since 2016.
He got the ball in the eighth. San Francisco watched as he went 1-2-3, the submariner getting ground outs from Adam Jones, Nick Ahmed and Alex Avila. The Twins watched, too.

“It was everything I thought it would be and more,” said Tyler Rogers, who was not outwardly emotional. His brother was.

Tyler’s first call, when he was informed he had been promoted, was to Taylor.
“I was here at the field and I don’t usually have my phone with me, but for some reason today I had it,” Taylor said on Fox Sports. “He called and I knew the timing was weird so I answered. He said, yeah, I’m your first call. … Really cool.”
