Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga has been cleared to practice in full, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
Kuminga, a 6-foot-7 forward, suffered a right patellar tendon strain on Oct. 6 during the preseason. He missed the preseason finale and the Warriors’ first two regular season games.
The rookie is “making good progress,” the team said, but wil remained sidelined for GSW’s next three contests. He’ll be re-evaluated Friday.
The Warriors selected Kuminga with the seventh overall pick. Instead of going to college, he opted to play a season with the G-League Ignite team, where he averaged 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Without Kuminga, the Warriors have won their first two games — first over the Lakers in the Staples Center and again at home against the Clippers. Based on how deep the roster is, it’s unclear how major of a role Kuminga, 19, will play once he’s fully recovered from the knee injury. The rookie logged just 17 minutes across two preseason games.
The Warriors’ next game is in Sacramento against the Kings Sunday at 6 p.m..
