SAN FRANCISCO–Pablo Sandoval doesn’t have much power in his bat these days.
In fact, there were questions as to whether Sandoval had any power left at all from the right side of the plate.
On Sunday afternoon, Sandoval attempted to put those questions behind him, as he slammed a home run off Diamondbacks’ lefty Jorge De La Rosa to put the Giants ahead of Arizona 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sandoval hadn’t homered from the right side of the plate since the 2014 season, which means he hit exactly zero home runs from the right side as a member of the Boston Red Sox.
While Sandoval’s home run wasn’t exactly a mammoth blast, it did provide rookie right-hander Chris Stratton with some additional run support after Stratton threw six innings of two-run ball against Arizona on Sunday.
The solo shot was Sandoval’s third home run since returning to the Giants, and his first extra base hit from the right-side since 2014 as well.
