Former “We Believe” Warrior Stephen Jackson is not a fan of Kevin Durant’s recent actions on Twitter.
On Monday, Durant deleted a series of tweets criticizing the Thunder organization, his former teammates and former head coach Billy Donovan. Curiously, the tweets were written in the third-person, leading many to believe that Durant meant to send them from a separate, anonymous account he uses to defend himself.
Durant apologized for the tweets on Tuesday, calling them both “idiotic” and “childish,” and admitted to being so embarrassed by his actions that he hadn’t eaten or slept in two days. That wasn’t enough for Jackson, however, who said on ESPN’s The Jump that he has no respect for Durant using a separate account to defend himself from random people on the social media website.
“Ah, Kevin Durant,” Jackson said. “I look at you now as I look at everyone else on Twitter and Instagram that has a little egg avatar. You are that person now. You cannot be excluded from that. Who creates a fake page? I’m the person, if I want to respond to somebody on social media, it has to come from my page with a verified check on it. He’s an egg avatar now, I have no respect for him.”
Durant said that he is planning on scaling things back on social media after the incident, especially with training camp starting in two days.
“I will scale back a little bit right now. Just focus on playing basketball,” Durant said on Tuesday. “I want to move on.”
