SAN FRANCISCO–It’s the only way the 2017 season could have ended, right?

On Sunday afternoon, the Giants finished off a year they can’t wait to forget in epic fashion thanks to a walkoff home run from infielder Pablo Sandoval.

After beginning the season with the Boston Red Sox, Sandoval was designated for assignment in mid-July. Within a week, he signed a Minor League contract with the Giants and began working his way up to the Major League level by taking at-bats with the San Jose Giants and the Sacramento River Cats.

By the first week of August, Sandoval was back with the big league club, and though he struggled for much of August and September at the plate, he finished off the year with two strong weeks that will give the Giants hope heading into next season.

Sandoval, of course, saved his best for last. By launching the final pitch of the Giants’ season into the right field arcade, Sandoval sent the team home as winners on the final day of the season in which they lost far to often.
