Six days ago the 49ers released linebacker NaVorro Bowman. Tonight he will start for the Oakland Raiders, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The #Raiders not only expect LB NaVorro Bowman to play, but he’s going to start vs. the #Chiefs. Amazing how fast coaches got him ready.

Bowman, 29, starting immediately speaks to the lack of depth the Raiders have at the position, as rookie fifth-round pick Marquel Lee was the starting middle linebacker by default before the signing. Head coach Jack Del Rio told reporters Bowman has picked things up quickly, and will feature alongside last year’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack in Thursday’s huge division matchup against the Chiefs.
“He’s looked good,” Del Rio said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s a veteran. He understands ball. We’ve not tried to install the entire playbook, but specific game-plan things. Even though it’s a short week, we feel good that he’ll play. … He’s a very instinctive player and he’s been there before. He understands what it looks like to line up against a good football team and help us win.”
