OAKLAND – Before the Oakland Raiders won what Derek Carr called craziest win in his NFL career, a shootout that ended on the final play of the game, Marshawn Lynch was making the headlines.
During the second quarter of Thursday night’s game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, things got chippy when Marcus Peters was flagged for a late hit on Derek Carr. Lynch, Peter’s cousin, sprinted onto the field and into the fray.

During the heat of the moment, Lynch put his hands on an official and was disqualified for the remainder of the game. Carr said after the game he had no problem with Peters’ hit, but said Lynch was out there taking care of his team.
“Obviously Marshawn came out and did his thing,” said Carr. “You never want a guy to get kicked out. That stinks.”
“I was disappointed that he ran out because I knew that we had a 15-yard penalty and we were going to be in good shape,” Del Rio said after the game. “I didn’t get a chance to have a conversation about it. I told him you can’t leave the bench like that.”
“I saw Marshawn come out there, that’s his cousin,” Donald Penn told reporters after the win. “Marshawn wasn’t doing anything he was just trying to protect his cousin, get his cousin to the sideline. They’re real close, they’re more like brothers than cousins, they’re real close.
He’s going to learn. Marshawn’s smart, he’s going to learn from that moving forward.”
Odds are that Lynch will get a call from the league office in the coming days to hand down a fine for the play.
