49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin had more catches — twice as many actually — in Sunday’s 15-14 win over the Chicago Bears than he did in any game previously in 2017. The difference? Jimmy Garoppolo was in at quarterback.
Jimmy G was stellar in his debut as San Francisco’s quarterback, going 26-of-37 for 293 yards while fitting passes into tight windows all afternoon, and conducting a game winning, 14-play, 86 yard drive.
Garoppolo’s teammates were reportedly ecstatic about their new QB after the game, bestowing him with cheers as they boarded the team bus. Goodwin was included in that group, and even offered Garoppolo his front-row seat.
49ers players were so impressed with Jimmy Garoppolo yesterday after their 15-14 win at Chicago that wide receiver Marquise Goodwin – with other players cheering – offered to get up and give Garoppolo his first-row seat on the team bus when Garoppolo boarded it. #49ers

It’s no coincidence that Goodwin looked the best he has in a 49ers uniform with Garoppolo under center, and it will be fun to see what other skill players show new life now that San Francisco has a good quarterback for the first time this season.
