Four top Giants’ prospects involved in latest Stanton deal [report]

What would it take for the San Francisco Giants to land Giancarlo Stanton?

According to the latest report from Sirius XM host Craig Mish, the Giants would essentially be mortgaging the farm system. On Tuesday morning, Mish reported San Francisco’s full offer for the 2017 National League MVP, and it’s quite the package of prospects.

Mish has broken several pieces of news regarding the Stanton trade talks, but on Monday afternoon, Henry Schulman of The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Christian Arroyo is not involved in the Giants’ offer for Stanton.

The four prospects mentioned by Mish are all former first round draft choices of the Giants, including Heliot Ramos, who was the team’s top overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft. Aside from sending a pitcher, two outfielders and an infielder to Miami, Mish is reporting that San Francisco would assume $250 million of the remaining $295 million left on Stanton’s contract.

Stanton is signed for the next 10 seasons, but has an opt-out clause in his contract that he can exercise after the 2020 season.

The Marlins’ right fielder also has a full no-trade clause in his contract, and has not reportedly given Miami executives word on whether he would accept a trade to the San Francisco Giants or the St. Louis Cardinals, who are considered Stanton’s other most aggressive suitor.
