Curry targeting return ‘at some point’ during Western Conference Semifinals [report]

On Thursday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told Tolbert & Lund that Stephen Curry “isn’t anywhere close to playing,” two days before Golden State’s first playoff game. On Friday, Sham Charania of Yahoo Sports gave a more detailed timetable on Curry, reporting that Steph is targeting a return at “some point” during the second round of the playoffs. Curry is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Saturday, three weeks after he sustained the sprained MCL.

The report would mean that Curry’s initial goal of being ready during the first round will not be met, something that coincides with Kerr’s comments yesterday. Curry hasn’t appeared in a game since March 23 when he sustained the knee injury. During his absence, Golden State finished the season 4-6. Overall, the Warriors are 17-14 without Curry this season.

The Warriors are set to face the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. Should they advance, they will face the winner of the Trail Blazers-Pelicans in the Western Conference Semifinal.
