Curry scolded by mom for profane outburst during Game 3

Stephen Curry let loose in more ways than one during the third quarter of Game 3 on Sunday evening. Curry finally had the scoring outburst we’d been waiting for, dropping 18 points in the quarter on 7-of-7 shooting. Curry also had an emotional outburst, screaming on multiple occasions out of sheer relief, sending the Oracle Arena crowd into a frenzy.

On one of those occasions, cameras caught Curry saying “This is my f***ing house,” after making a contested layup.

“I blacked out,” Curry said after the game when asked about it.

That answer apparently wasn’t satisfactory for Curry’s mother, Sonya, who scolded her son for his profane language after the game.

“She already sent me two home videos, showing me the clip and playing it back,” Curry told ESPN. “She was telling me how I need to wash my mouth out, saying to wash it out with soap. It’s a message I’ve heard before.

“She’s right. I gotta do better. I can’t talk like that.”

Curry’s teammate, Klay Thompson, had a more lighthearted response to the incident.

“That was funny, I hope Riley didn’t see it,” Thompson said. “It got Oracle pretty fired up and that’s a rare occurrence. I’ve never really seen Steph use that language but that’s what the playoffs bring out of you. Don’t do that at home kids. That’s just once in a while.”

Curry scored a game high 35 points on 13-of-23 shooting.
