A lot of things have been said about Draymond Green. One that has probably not been said, however, is that he lacks confidence.
After another Warriors loss Thursday against the Houston Rockets that put the Warriors in a 3-2 hole and on the brink of elimination, Green made a strong statement regarding the team’s chances in the series.
“We still winning this,” Green said, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic. “Book it.”
The Warriors have remained confident despite losing Games 4 and 5 in the series, and as Thompson detailed, Green and Stephen Curry found that the series resembled the 2015 Western Conference Semifinals, when the Warriors overcame a 2-1 series deficit to win three straight games and defeat the Memphis Grizzlies in 6.
“You know what this feels like?” Stephen Curry said to Green, two lockers over.
“Memphis,” Green answered.
“Yup,” Curry said. “This feels like Memphis.”
Then Green, his olive pants on as he buttoned up, smiled as if the nostalgia warmed his soul. The grin came with a sneaky look in his eyes.
“We figured something out in that series,” Green said.
The Warriors will look to have a similar turnaround to what they had against Memphis in Games 6 and 7 against Houston.
