The Giants are probably ecstatic that this road trip is over. That is, if they’re not busy celebrating their comeback win.
Despite falling behind 3-0 Wednesday in the final game of their three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the Giants fought back to tie the game and eventually took the lead, plating seven runs in the process and holding on to win by a score of 7 to 4.
Colorado’s first-inning rally was powered by Nolan Arenado’s three-run shot to left-center with none out, putting the Rockies quickly up 3-0. But Giants’ starter Derek Holland recovered to retire the side with no further damage, and the Giants answered back with two runs in the second. Brandon Crawford opened the Giants’ scoring by swiping home on a wild pitch, while Mac Williamson advanced to second on the same pitch and later scored on a Pablo Sandoval single.
The Rockies countered with another run of their own in the bottom of the frame when Charlie Blackmon drove in Tony Wolters with a single, but the Giants one-upped them with two in the fourth, both on walks by Rockies starter Jon Gray with the bases loaded. Andrew McCutchen had an opportunity to add on with the bases still loaded and one out, but grounded into a double play to end the inning.
The Giants did add on in the third when Evan Longoria tripled home Brandon Belt, and then scored on a Crawford single.
The Rockies had an opportunity to respond with two on and two out in the fifth when Carlos Gonzalez hit a low line drive to center, but Gorkys Hernandez made a spectacular catch to end the inning.

The Rockies threatened again in the eighth with runners at the corners and two out, but pinch-hitter David Dahl grounded out to Belt to end the inning. In the ninth, they sent Arenado to the plate with two on and two out, but he popped out to Kelby Tomlinson to end the game.
The Giants have a day off Thursday before returning home to AT&T Park to start a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies Friday.
