Leonard’s current deal with the Spurs is scheduled to pay him around $20.1 million in 2018-19, with a player option worth around $21.3 million for the 2019-2020 season. Leonard played in just nine games last season as he dealt with a somewhat mysterious quad injury. Leonard did not attend any of the Spurs’ postseason games this season as he received treatment in New York from a group of non-team affiliated doctors.
Interestingly, this news comes on the heels of a report that the Spurs are planning to offer Leonard a five-year, $219 million extension this offseason.
In 2016-17, Leonard averaged 25.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, finishing third in MVP voting.
