Opening Day is here, folks. The Giants take on the San Diego Padres Thursday at 1 p.m. at Petco Park.
Earlier today, the Giants released their 25-man roster, which notably included Pablo Sandoval and excluded Mac Williamson. The team has also announced its starting nine a few hours ahead of the opener.
The lineup reads as follows:
- CF Steven Duggar
- 1B Brandon Belt
- 3B Evan Longoria
- C Buster Posey
- SS Brandon Crawford
- LF Connor Joe
- RF Michael Reed
- C Joe Panik
- P Madison Bumgarner
Thursday will mark the 13th straight year that the Giants start a different left fielder on Opening Day. This year, it’s Joe, who will make his MLB debut. Right fielder Michael Reed will make his Giants debut. The rest of the lineup features Giants mainstays of the past several seasons.
The Padres, featuring newly acquired slugger Manny Machado, have also released their lineup, as seen below.
