Steve Kerr reminds reporter Warriors are back-to-back champs

Steve Kerr isn’t letting a surprising Game-5 loss to the Clippers cloud his confidence in his club.

The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors for the second straight game in Oracle Arena, 129-121, Wednesday night to force Game 6. The Warriors were uncharacteristically bad defensively, allowing Los Angeles to shoot 54.1 percent from the floor. The energy was off from the tip, and by the time the team got Oracle involved, it was too late.

After the loss, Kerr was asked to define his team’s identity. He, very clearly, was caught off guard by the question.

“Our identity?” Kerr said. “Back-to-back champions.”

The reporter followed up by asking about Golden State’s identity specific to the current series. Kerr’s tone didn’t change.

“I don’t know,” Kerr said. “We are really good. I mean, we are hanging banners. What’s our identity? We play fast, we play defense. I don’t know, maybe we should do an instructional video and send it to you.”
