Nick Bosa has recently come under fire for his public support of President Donald Trump, peviously calling him the Greatest of All Time. Bosa, whom the 49ers drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft Thursday, has also criticized Colin Kaepernick, calling him a clown in a tweet two-and-a-half years ago.
When Bosa was officially introduced as a 49er Friday, he answered questions for about four minutes on his past social media activity. He publicly apologized for calling Kaepernick a clown and commended him for empowering people. Bosa said he has learned from his past mistakes, will carefully use social media moving forward, and looks forward to growing as a person in San Francisco, where he will be introduced to people and ideas of all kinds. He’s clearly trying to move on from the negative coverage and focus on football.
One day later, however, Trump tweeted at Bosa, congratulating him on being picked No. 2 overall. This has been Trump’s only tweet related to the 2019 NFL Draft.
Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being picked number two in the NFL Draft. You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent! San Francisco will embrace you but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Earlier this month, Bosa told ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg he “had to” delete past controversial tweets because “there is a chance I might end up in San Francisco.” That prospect has come to fruition. And in the opening days of Bosa’s professional career, he has faced a story that continues to resurface.
