Shaun Livingston’s memorable tenure with the Warriors may soon be coming to an end. The 33-year-old point guard is mulling retirement after a season that saw him nursing a sore knee throughout. If he doesn’t, Golden State is expected to buyout the 15-year veteran, who has $2 million of his $7.7 million contract guaranteed for next season, according to Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News.
Livingston was a key bench component for the Warriors in the Steve Kerr era, but had a significant drop off this season. Livingston posted a career low 4 points per game while averaging 15.1 minutes, and also shot a career low 45.3 percent from the field in the postseason.
After being selected with the fourth pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Livingston sustained a gruesome knee injury in 2007, that was initially suspected to be career ending. Livingston bounced around until 2013 as he struggled to return to the court, but finally found a home in Brooklyn where he started 54 games.
Livingston then signed with the Warriors on three-year deal during the 2014 offseason, playing a key role off the bench en route to Golden State’s first title in 40 years, averaging 5.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 18.8 minutes per game.
