The Warriors inked Draymond Green to a four-year, $100 million extension on Saturday, locking the five-time All-Defensive selection up for the next five seasons. That is, unless Green opts out of his contract in 2023, something he has the option to do according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Green’s extension brings his total deal to 5-years, $118 million. That makes Green the fourth-highest paid player on the Warriors based on average salary behind Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell. None of those players, all on max deals, received an opt out clause in their contract. Green will be 33 during the 2023 offseason.

The moves cements the Warriors’ new core, at least for the time being, as Curry, Thompson, Russell, Green (and Kevon Looney). Green averaged 7.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists last season, shooting 44.5 percent from the field, a career second-lowest 28.5 percent from three, and 69.2 percent from the free throw line. Those stats (except for three percentage) increased massively in the playoffs to 13.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game on 49.8 percent shooting from the field, 22.8 percent from three, and 71.8 percent from the line.
