There will not be a flood of prospects arriving Sunday, when the calendar flips to September.
There will be a puddle of them, though.
Bruce Bochy said — “just guessing” — there would be four or five to come up from Triple-A Sacramento the day the rosters expand, which allows any member of the 40-man roster to see time in the majors.
The River Cats feature 12 eligible call-ups, plus outfielder Jaylin Davis, whom the Giants will make 40-man roster room for.
The Giants will balance bringing up immediate help — and rewarding the minor leaguers — with trying to stay competitive at Sacramento, which wrapped up its division title and will enter the playoffs.
Aramis Garcia, as a third catcher, is a logical choice to be at Oracle Park for the series finale against the Padres. There will probably be multiple relievers brought up to be pen insurance. Sacramento plays Saturday, and whom the River Cats use and who is fresh should help determine who comes to San Francisco immediately.
There will be more who join after the Pacific Coast League playoffs, though Bochy has said the team won’t bring up every eligible player, as some of Farhan Zaidi’s Dodgers teams did.
Zach Green, who debuted in the majors earlier this year, has not played since Aug. 15, on the injured list with a back injury.
Here are the 40-man choices (again, plus the slugger Davis) the Giants will weigh:
Aramis Garcia, C
Abiatal Avelino, SS
Zach Green, 1B, 3B
Chris Shaw, OF, 1B
Mike Gerber, OF
Joe McCarthy, OF
Melvin Adon, RHP
Williams Jerez, LHP
Conner Menez, LHP
Sam Selman, LHP
Burch Smith, RHP
Andrew Suarez, LHP
This week is “definitely” the best week of Tyler Rogers’ life, he said.
The recent call-up, who debuted Tuesday after seven years in the minors, got engaged Friday night. Mike Yastrzemski, Sam Coonrod and Tyler Beede were on hand.
Have a week, Tyler Rogers! Congrats to the newly engaged couple, @tyrogers2020 + @jayyyryyye ?

“Actually I had other plans until a few days ago,” said Rogers, who had planned the big moment to happen in Sacramento, where he has spent so much time the past few years.
“But her family’s here, my family’s here,” said the submariner, who said his fiancee did not see it coming. “It worked out great.”
The Giants flip-flopped Tyler Beede and Jeff Samardzija in the rotation, with Samardzija going Sunday against San Diego and Beede starting in St. Louis on Monday.
Bochy said it was done to keep Samardzija on his regular rest. Beede has thrown 127 innings between Triple-A and the majors this season, a year after he threw 87 2/3.
