The 49ers already made their splash, but there may be another move on the horizon before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

According to Adam Schefter, the 49ers have received inquiries regarding third-string quarterback C.J. Beathard.

Despite sitting on the depth chart behind both Jimmy Garoppolo and Nick Mullens, there is still some interest in the 25-year old throughout the league. Beathard started 10 games over the past two seasons, replacing the ineffective Brian Hoyer in 2017 and Garoppolo following injury in 2018. Beathard lost the starting job to Mullens midway through last season. Beathard has a career QB rating of 74.6 (12 TD, 13 INT).

Kyle Shanahan was high on Beathard coming out of college at Iowa, trading up to take the quarterback with the 104th pick (3rd round) in the 2017 Draft.

According to Matt Maiocco, team’s have been inquiring about Beathard for some time, but have not been willing to meet the price the 49ers want in exchange.
