New Giants reliever shows off wild windup while pitching 1-2-3 inning

We already love this guy.

Recent signing Yapson Gomez made his minor-league debut on Tuesday, and impressed in more ways than one.

Let’s not bury the lede. Gomez trotted an absurd windup, one that took a full 15 seconds from start to finish as seen in the video above. It’s not all just for show, however, as Gomez put together a 1-2-3 inning, striking out the last two Padres on three pitches each.

Gomez, 26, has yet to make a major league appearance, but was impressive in Class A and Double-A ball in the Indians’ farm system, posting a 2.40 ERA in 47 appearances.

“We had some excited coaches on the bench when Gomez came into the game,” Kapler said. “I hadn’t seen like all of the interesting antics, that certainly was probably one of the highlights of the game for the fans in the stands. Obviously he preformed really well with a couple of big strikeouts. That was a lot of fun for everybody in the dugout and I’m sure a moment he won’t soon forget.”
