Did you really think the 49ers would let themselves go without a pick in the fifth round? After trading away both fifth-round picks (first, in the Brandon Aiyuk trade, and again, in the Trent Williams trade), San Francisco found its way back into the fifth round with the Miami Dolphins, who had 14 picks in the 2020 Draft and two consecutive picks at 154 and 155.
With the fifth-round pick the 49ers received from the Dolphins for RB Matt Breida, SF drafts West Virginia OT Colton McKivitz. https://t.co/JaRrZCsTrk

The move marks the 49ers’ fourth trade during the course of the 2020 draft, and nets them a potential zone run asset in Colton McKivitz, a left tackle from West Virginia. McKivitz’s tape seems to favor him as a guard, because he struggled with form and pass protection on the outside. He’s very much built like Daniel Brunskill, with short arms, and good athleticism and driving strength as a run-oriented guard. It would be surprising to see him transition with the 49ers as a tackle option.
