Less than 24 hours after becoming the newest member of the Golden State Warriors, Jordan Bell had already inadvertently made news.
A day after the draft, video surfaced of Bell telling his friends and family that his contract had been purchased by the Warriors after initially being drafted in the second round by the Bulls. Upon hearing the news everybody erupted in cheers. At one point, Bell and his brother could be heard chanting “F*** Bron Bron,” a reference to a LeBron James diss track by hip-hop artist Mac Bari.
The internet went wild.

Bell joined Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News’s podcast on Friday and explained his comments, saying that he is actually a lifelong LeBron James fan, and that the song was in his head because his brother had been signing it on draft day.
“Man, right?” Bell said when asked about his comment making news. “Anything, man. I bet. I seen that on TMZ and stuff. It’s crazy. If you look at my Instagram posts from last summer, I said (LeBron)’s my favorite player. So obviously I’m not going to talk to smack about him.”
“The whole (Draft) day, he kept playing the song: ‘Eff Bron Bron.’ He kept playing that,” Bell said. “So when I got picked, I was just happy, just standing there. Then he came in my ear, saying ‘Eff Bron Bron.’ So me, I’m just joking, I start saying it, too. Then it blew up. I didn’t even realize anyone would find it. Obviously you just joking, talking about a song.”
Bell touches on a variety of topics with Slater and the entire podcast is worth a listen, especially when he describes his shock upon seeing Draymond Green in person.
“When I seen him in person I’m thinking going in, he’s like my height,” Bell said. “I say I’m 6-9, 6-10, but I’m really like 6-8. So I’m thinking he’s around the same height. Then I see him and I’m like towering over this dude. But it made me gain so much more respect because, I’m like, he’s smaller than what I thought, he’s not the biggest, buffest guy out there, but he’s the Defensive Player of the Year.”
