Remember when the 49ers’ were supposed to be contenders for Odell Beckham Jr.? Less than a week ago, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reported that the Seattle Seahawks were frontrunners for Beckham Jr., with San Francisco and New Orleans as other potential suitors.
Since then, the 49ers lost, embarrassingly, to the Arizona Cardinals and if they ever were viable suitors, that status may have evaporated with the loss.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and multiple other follow-up reports, Beckham Jr., the three-time Pro Bowler, will sign with the other division rival, Los Angeles Rams.
Multiple reports from NFL Network’s Kim Jones and Josina Anderson followed up, saying that Beckham Jr. had not made up his mind, and was still deciding between the Packers and the Rams. The Rams posted the announcement of his signing before promptly removing it and have since re-posted it.
All that drama resolved itself promptly, as multiple reports from Schefter and Ian Rapoport said that Beckham Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Rams. Newly-acquired defensive end Von Miller posted the following FaceTime screenshot of a call with Beckham Jr., confirming the deal.
If Beckham Jr. suits up in his first game with his new team, it’ll be on Monday night in Levi’s Stadium against San Francisco.
