Sunday’s thrilling win over the Bengals was huge for the 49ers wild card chances.

San Francisco moved up a spot in the standings with the victory, now sitting in the sixth of seven playoff spots with a (7-6) record. With the victory, the 49ers now have a 75 percent chance to make the playoffs according to FiveThirthyEight.

The win also gave San Francisco a game lead on the five teams directly trailing them — Washington, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Atlanta and New Orleans — all with 6-7 records. Washington currently holds the seventh and final seed due to tiebreakers. Of those teams, the Eagles have the best chance to get in (38 percent) according to FiveThirtyEight.

The 49ers will have a chance to basically end the Falcons playoff hopes next week in a contest at Levi’s Stadium. After that, San Francisco will face the AFC South leading Titans in Tennessee, the two win Texans at home and will close the season vs. the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
