Rejoice Giants fans, baseball is back after four long days without your Giants. The orange and black get the unofficial second half underway this afternoon in Toronto with the start of a three game set against the Blue Jays. The Giants will go Verlander, Ray, Webb on the bump north of the border. Here’s a snapshot of what you might have missed on The Sports Leader during the All-Star break.

It was Buster Posey’s turn on the Giants executive show this week. Here’s a quick snapshot into everything the Giants legend and current President of Baseball Operations touched on with Murph & Markus.

He also was asked about the throngs of Dodger fans that invade Oracle Park annually when the rivals come to town.

For those who didn’t get to hear Posey’s full segment on Rafael Devers, here’s how he answered questions about the slugger’s struggles.

Mike Krukow joined Murph & Markus on Friday morning ahead of the unofficial second half opener in Toronto. He explained that while individual Giants hitters have been hot throughout the first few months of the season, the team is yet to enjoy a stretch where multiple thumpers are bringing it at the same time. With a lineup that features Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman, it’s reasonable to assume a nuclear cluster could be on the horizon.

The team didn’t do much to provide hope in that space in the first half of the season, but Krukow believes a stretch like that could catapult the Giants to the playoffs in the season’s final two months and change.

Earlier in the week, the morning show welcomed Chili Davis to the airwaves. He expressed confidence in a struggling Rafael Devers. Like many who have played the game at a high level, Davis isn’t worried about Devers’ slow start with the Giants. A hitter of his caliber can only be dormant for so long.
