Longtime baseball writer Buster Olney joined Tolbert & Lund shortly after the news broke about Bumgarner, and said that he doesn’t expect the Giants to sign a free agent starting pitcher as a reinforcement, largely due to the fact that very few are available.

Less than a week before Opening Day, Madison Bumgarner was forced to exit Friday’s exhibition against Kansas City, after taking a hard comebacker off his throwing hand. Bumgarner reportedly did not waive off the trainer and exited the game immediately. Bumgarner’s status is unknown at this time
