It was reported on Tuesday morning that the 49ers will host free agent defensive back Jaylen Watkins, formerly of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, on Wednesday.

Three weeks after being taken into custody following a threatening Instagram post that led to the shutdown of a Southern California high school, former Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Jonathan Martin has been charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney with four counts of making criminal threats and one count of possessing a loaded firearm, as reported by TMZ.

Stephen Curry is hoping to return from his right ankle sprain on Friday when the Warriors host the Hawks at Oracle Arena, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN. The Giants announced 14 more roster cuts on Monday following the news that No. 4 overall prospect, SP Tyler Beede, had been optioned to AAA Sacramento.

Starting pitcher Tyler Beede, the Giants’ fifth ranked prospect according to MLB.com, will not be on San Francisco’s opening day roster come April 29. Beede was one of the casualties on Monday, as the Giants made their second wave of spring training cuts. It’s unclear at the time of writing who else will be packing their bags, but according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic, standout centerfield prospect Steven Duggar is safe for now.
