After losing 98 games and finishing dead last in the majors in team .OPS, the San Francisco Giants can ill afford to go through another offseason where they fail to add a top tier everyday player to their lineup.
For the first time in his 11-year tenure as Giants manager, comments critical of Bruce Bochy bubbled to the surface when two anonymous Giants players were quoted in a story published by the San Francisco Chronicle, saying the skipper has “turned more negative over the past two seasons.”
“The autopsy has been going on for months. I don’t know how much more we can tolerate knowing that the patient got sick and why he got sick, but obviously he didn’t die.”
The Giants dealt with injuries, poor performances, a revolving door of left fielders and so much more during the 2017 season, and at long last, it’s finally over. While the playoffs are set to start on Tuesday, the Giants will obviously not be participating. Instead, they’ll have the chance to sit back and reflect on exactly how this season devolved in such an epic fashion.
