In the A’s 8-5 win on Monday’s Bay Bridge Series opener, the Giants were burned by balls. Eight of them, to be exact.

Former Raider Louis Murphy and Utah undrafted free agent Tim Patrick were signed on Monday. Linebacker Jimmie Gilbert (ACL) and wide receiver B.J. Johnson III (hamstring) were released. Both were undrafted free agents.

Marquise Goodwin hauled in two more 60-yard touchdowns on Monday, one from Brian Hoyer and one from rookie C.J. Beathard. Goodwin’s speed in the open field has been breathtaking and he already has five such touchdowns.

An injury bug at 49ers training camp has forced some undrafted players into the limelight, and they’re mostly thriving.

NFL training camps have started and former 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick still doesn’t have a new home. That could change, though, if the Baltimore Ravens’ prayers are answered in a way that would make team owner Steve Bisctiotti amenable to signing Kaepernick in the immediate future.
