The Mac is back. After Giants’ left fielder Austin Slater re-aggravated a hip flexor injury on Friday evening, San Francisco placed the rookie on the 10-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Mac Williamson from AAA Sacramento.

A trip to the dentist’s office. Trying to find a parking spot in a full garage. Jamming into a packed subway. All are reasonably uncomfortable experiences, yet all are scenarios that might be preferable to watching the Giants when Matt Moore has pitched of late.

Myers himself deserves a ton of credit for helping foster this atmosphere where players are willing to sacrifice cash. Whatever he’s saying in these private meetings is working. The former agent has become as integral to the Warriors’ success as Durant, Steve Kerr, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

Any rumors of the Warriors demise have been greatly exaggerated. Or, did not exist at all. These are the salad days. The Warriors are champs, are in their prime, and are ready for more.

After stealing a 5-4 victory on Wednesday night against Detroit, the San Francisco Giants entered Thursday’s series finale in an ideal position to fly home with their third consecutive series win. That is, until right-hander Johnny Cueto was scratched minutes before taking the mound.

The Giants will go for their third straight series victory on Thursday morning, but they’ll be forced to do so without starter Johnny Cueto. Cueto was scratched about a half hour before taking the mound on Thursday in Detroit with an inner ear infection, and he’ll be replaced by Giants’ reliever Chris Stratton.

First-round draft pick DeForest Buckner was one of the few bright spots for the 49ers last year, posting six sacks, a good number for an interior defender, during his rookie season.

There was a growing sense entering his start on Wednesday evening that Ty Blach could be pitching to keep his spot in the San Francisco Giants’ rotation. If that’s the case, Blach put a lock on his spot, and then did his best to hide the key.

In the midst of his 13th season with the San Francisco Giants, right-hander Matt Cain started the team’s Independence Day contest at Comerica Park in Detroit under remarkably different circumstances than the last time Cain pitched in the Motor City. On Tuesday, a struggling Cain took the ball for the Giants nearly five years after he started Game 4 of the 2012 World Series against the Tigers, a game that extended into 10 innings before San Francisco clinched its second championship in three seasons.
