When asked by Gary & Larry on Monday if there is anything 49ers fans can hang their collective hats on heading into a tough Week 2 matchup at Seattle, 49ers beat writer Eric Branch provided a single silver lining.

The 49ers’ defense suffered a devastating blow during the first quarter of Sunday afternoon’s season-opening contest against the Carolina Panthers when rookie linebacker Reuben Foster was forced to exit the game with what appeared to be a right ankle injury.
