After an extremely disappointing start to the season, the Giants are finally starting to show some promise. After getting demolished by the Cincinnati Reds last week in a 3-game set with a combined score over the 3 games of 31-5, the Giants came back and took 3 of 4 from the Reds this weekend. The Giants begin a pivotal three game set against the Dodgers on Monday that will show how much momentum they garnered from the Reds series.

In a Giants infield that is filled with defensive talent, nobody has been more impressive over the past few seasons than shortstop Brandon Crawford. He’s had an impressive .979 and .983 fielding percentage over the past two seasons respectively, and took home two gold gloves for his efforts. Crawford has been no slouch at the plate either, with two straight 84 RBI seasons and one silver slugger award to go along with his golden gloves.

The San Francisco Giants capped off a weekend series with the Cincinnati Reds with an 8-3 victory Sunday. Brandon Belt blasted his third home run in four games and the bullpen ended the weekend with a 14-inning scoreless streak. The Giants were also able to avenge a brutal series in Cincinnati last weekend, in which they were outscored 31-5 in a 3-game set.

Starters, relievers, and hitters all combined to help the Giants take three out of four games from Cincinnati over the weekend. With the Dodgers coming to town and the Giants still nine games under .500, the team is increasingly confident in its ability to climb the standings.

The Giants scored seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back on Sunday. The Mother’s Day win was San Francisco’s third in a row and clinched a series victory over the Reds. Jeff Samardzija threw 6.2 innings and earned his first win of the season.

With Hunter Pence battling a left hamstring strain, Justin Ruggiano will continue to be relied upon in his absence. Ruggiano has five hits in his last three starts, and is in the lineup again for Sunday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds.

Moore pitched a stellar game. The lefty allowed only one run in 7.1 innings of work, striking out seven Reds in the process. Moore was the workhorse the Giants needed Saturday, throwing 120 pitches in the win.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Brandon Belt and Justin Ruggiano homered, Matt Moore pitched into the eighth inning and the San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 in a matchup of weary teams on Saturday.

With no outs in the top of the 8th inning Saturday in the San Francisco Giant’s game against the visiting Cincinnati Reds, Eugenio Suarez smashed a ball to Panik’s left. Panik snagged the grounder, spun, and put a throw on the money to Brandon Belt, who had just moved to first base from left field.

Saturday Brandon Belt opened the game up with a solo home run at the bottom of the 1st inning. Belt’s home run marked AT&T Park’s 72nd splash hit.
