After a less than stellar four-game road trip, the Golden State Warriors returned home and mostly coasted into a win they both needed, and would have been embarrassed not to have.

The Warriors are bringing out the big guns.

It was almost a win that would’ve put the Pelicans’ playoff hopes to bed. Instead it was a loss that keeps them mathematically able to spoil the Warriors’ playoff hopes in the near future.

The Warriors took it to the Pelicans in New Orleans on Monday, putting together a 123-108 victory in the first matchup between the two teams this season.

I mean, good grief. You can sometimes make the argument that the first half of basketball games don’t matter much.

Regardless of your opinion on Sacramento’s geography, Sunday provided a fun night of Bay Area basketball.

The Warriors and their fans are back home. With a 118-97 win over the Denver Nuggets, they’re back to an even .500 at 30-30 and firmly in contention to climb up the standings.

While vaccinations continue to increase and positivity rates decrease, especially in California, Friday morning provided a reminder of the perils that professional athletes and staffs are facing on road trips.

Maybe the MVP voters can buck history, and do the right thing. Just don’t get your hopes up.
