For the Warriors, most regular season games exist on a spectrum that generally ranges from underwhelming to enjoyable. But last night was different.

As a star NBA player with a reputation that pegs him as temperamental, and having joined the best team in the league this offseason, Cousins knew he set himself up as a target for criticism.

DeMarcus Cousins has closed the book on what was one of the most taxing (physically and emotionally) days of his life. After nearly a year of being out of basketball, Cousins finally returned to the court for an NBA game, this time in a Golden State Warriors uniform.

Tonight’s game featured the debut of DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins. If not an explosive enough event on its own, it was met with an all-time great halftime performance from Compton native Coolio.

Fouling out after 15 minutes is rare. Even rarer is getting a standing ovation after doing so, which is exactly how the Warriors bench greeted Cousins after his first game since last April.

Draymond Green was issued a technical foul for hanging on the rim after throwing down a violent two-handed jam just before halftime in Friday’s game vs. the Clippers.

On the first two possessions of the game, the Warriors tried to force the ball to him twice, to no avail. But a few minutes later, Cousins was back to his usual self, and slammed home a massive dunk.
