Against a lowly Charlotte Hornets team that entered Oracle Arena with just 12 victories this season, the Warriors turned in an absolute clunker, losing 111-100 in a game that proved just how much Golden State misses the two-time MVP.

The “boring” version of the Warriors have probably played their last game for awhile.

Dell was in town on Friday night for the Warriors’ showdown with the Hornets (He’s now Charlotte’s TV analyst), and with the Oracle Arena crowd needing a Curry highlight, it was Dell, not Steph, who provided a signature pregame moment.

After shipping top prospect Christian Arroyo to the Tampa Bay Rays in a deal for third baseman Evan Longoria, the San Francisco Giants’ farm system is relatively barren.

If things go as expected, Stephen Curry will return to the court Saturday evening when Golden State Warriors play host to the Memphis Grizzlies for the second time in less than two weeks.

Steve Kerr’s decision to start a small lineup with Draymond Green at center in Game 4 of the 2015 NBA Finals changed the course of the series, and gave Golden State a “death lineup” that would terrorize the rest of the league during the 2015-16 season. Following the departure of Harrison Barnes, the Warriors trotted out a modified version with Kevin Durant — dubbed the Hamptons 5 — in 2016-17, giving them an even more dynamic unit that when clicking, was nearly impossible to guard.

The Golden State Warriors officially updated Stephen Curry status on Tuesday, saying that the two-time MVP has “continued to make good progress overall” as he recovers from a right ankle sprain sustained on Dec. 4, and that he will be re-evaluated on Friday after missing 10 games with the injury.

The time is near. After spending nearly a month resting and recovering from an ankle injury he suffered on December 4 in New Orleans, Warriors’ point guard Steph Curry is preparing to return to a Golden State squad that picked up its NBA-best 28th win on Wednesday night against the Jazz.

It takes one to know one. A year after Draymond Green won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year Award, Green’s play thus far certainly puts him in the running to defend his title.
