The 49ers, and the Bay Area football scene in general, is no stranger to CTE-related issues. Former Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler’s brain was included in the study, and he was found to have “moderately severe” CTE.

The 49ers have announced an open practice for fans, including free food items, on August 5.

Washington is going to play this season out with Cousins, pray they make the playoffs, pray the 49ers are an absolute disaster in Year 1 of Shanahan and hope they can convince Cousins that he belongs in D.C. The problem with that approach is they just ridiculed him publicly 10 days before training camp in an almost unheard of fashion.

Brian Hoyer hasn’t even played a down with the 49ers yet, and there’s already speculation about replacing him next season.

Reports came out yesterday that Cousins would still be open to considering an offer on a multiyear contract from Washington next offseason, but it’s also widely expected that Cousins and Kyle Shanahan are destined to join forces with the 49ers in 2018.

It pays to stick around, apparently. The 49ers and the 28 other NFL teams that didn’t recently change (or vote to change) cities are set to receive $55 million each thanks to the relocation fees paid by the Chargers, Rams and Raiders.

DeAngelo Williams has four teams he won’t play for next season. One is the team from Dallas, and that’s because Williams was a 49ers fan as a kid, which created dislike for the then-dominant Cowboys.

What if Bowman and Reuben Foster are clobbering people in the middle of the field? What if Elvis Dumervil reignites his career as dependable LEO? What if Solomon Thomas uses those violent hands to disrupt the flow of an opposing offenses?

It’s understood that one of Lynch’s main goals is to spew positivity about the 49ers. He’s actually been phenomenal at winning the PR battles. The 49ers really haven’t done anything wrong since he was hired on Jan. 30.

Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch will have some tough decisions to make for August cuts. Training camp begins on July 27th.
