Andre Iguodala didn’t have the opportunity to play in the Warriors’ season-opening loss against the Rockets on Tuesday night. But he did have plenty to say about the game.
The Golden State Warriors are 0-1, but after blowing a 17-point lead in the team’s season-opener against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday evening, there’s little doubt the reigning champs will fade anytime soon.
On the verge of another phenomenal season, Andre Iguodala and Omri Casspi are questionable and Shaun Livingston is probable for the Warriors’ season-opener.
It’s been well documented that Iguodala had meetings with the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets over the summer as he explored free-agency, but it remained unclear if he ever seriously considered signing with one of those teams, or if he was simply trying to make the Warriors nervous in order to get a more lucrative offer.
Despite the many rumors about Andre Iguodala changing teams this summer, Steve Kerr said there was never a doubt in his mind that his versatile leader off the bench would return.
It was a bit of a friendly reunion over the weekend when Richard Jefferson attended former teammate Kent Bazemore’s wedding and was ultimately forced to hang out with Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala.
Myers himself deserves a ton of credit for helping foster this atmosphere where players are willing to sacrifice cash. Whatever he’s saying in these private meetings is working. The former agent has become as integral to the Warriors’ success as Durant, Steve Kerr, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.
If it was up to Andre Iguodala’s son, the 33-year-old former Finals MVP would’ve had a rather seamless free agency. Though Iguodala did end up deciding to re-sign with the Warriors rather quickly after free agency began, the fact that he considered and met with other teams may have upset his son, who had no interest in leaving the Bay Area, just a bit.
