Andrew McCutchen trade

This is a Giants team loaded down by players who have been around the block. Now, those 30-something-year-olds are making compromises so they can take another trip.

On Monday afternoon, the Giants completed a blockbuster trade to acquire Pirates’ outfielder Andrew McCutchen in exchange for reliever Kyle Crick and 2016 second round draft choice Bryan Reynolds.

While the Giants still have to take care of business on the field, Evans’ offseason gambles have provided a foundation for the franchise to succeed. If in fact the club earns a coveted playoff berth next season, the Giants’ general manager will be squarely in the discussion for Executive of the Year.
