The San Francisco Giants have optioned Austin Slater and Pat Venditte to Triple-A Sacramento, while re-assigning Derek Law and Zach Green to minor league camp
Prior to the start of their four-game series with the Padres, the Giants optioned Andrew Suarez back to Triple-A Sacramento and recalled Derek Law to rejoin the bullpen.
Derek Law was optioned to Triple-A on Monday and Mike Krukow told Murph & Mac the following morning it’ll be a while for him to get back to the major leagues, unless he makes key improvements.
The Giants announced 14 more roster cuts on Monday following the news that No. 4 overall prospect, SP Tyler Beede, had been optioned to AAA Sacramento.
When the Giants began the 2017 season, Derek Law was supposed to pitch the eighth inning and Mark Melancon was supposed to shut the door in the ninth. How times have changed.
In late June, Hwang received his first promotion, and clubbed a home run in his first Major League game to help lead the Giants to a win over the Rockies. It turns out, that was the only home run Hwang hit with the Giants. He wound up going 8-for-52 in his opportunities with the Major League club, and was demoted back to AAA Sacramento on two separate occasions.
There will be no Tyler Beede or Christian Arroyo. Barring a major surprise, Chris Shaw and Andrew Suarez aren’t going to walk through the doors of the home club house at AT&T Park.
