Don Mattingly

Marlins pitcher Dan Straily has been suspended five games (one start), and Marlins manager Don Mattingly has been suspended one game, for hitting Buster Posey with a pitch in Tuesday’s game vs. the Giants. Straily will appeal his suspension according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. Mattingly will not serve his until after Straily returns.

It turns out, however, that Mattingly never told Posey he’d be next, and that Mike Krukow’s initial report was incorrect. The Giants broadcaster explained the situation, and said he’d apologize to Mattingly today, when he joined Murph & Mac Wednesday morning.
